Promoting excellent research and a strong research integrity culture that aligns with the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity.

Last modified: June 24, 2019

The EU-funded Horizon 2020 project SOPs4RI aims to promote excellent research and a strong research integrity culture that aligns with the principles and norms of the European Code of Conduct for Research integrity (ALLEA 2017). SOPs4RI will develop a toolbox containing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines on research integrity for research performing organizations (RPOs) and research funding organizations (RFOs). This will help RPOs and RFOs create the infrastructure and support systems necessary to foster research integrity, and prevent and handle research misconduct. The development and validation of SOPs4RI’s toolbox will take a mixed-methods co-creative and iterative approach involving key stakeholders at each stage of the research process. The toolbox will be sensitive to differences in disciplinary fields and cultural contexts within Europe. RPOs and RFOs can use the toolbox to create and implement their own institutionally tailored Research Integrity Promotion Plans. To test the feasibility of the toolbox, a validation study will be carried out with RPOs and RFOs across Europe. Furthermore, SOPs4RI will collaborate with other European research integrity projects to draw on their findings and maximize the toolbox’s impact.
